THEY have all different kinds of names like Mutt, Heinz 57, Chihuahuas, Boston Terriers, Border Collies, Dachshunds, and Shih Tzus to name a few. THEY are all the same. Don't let any of THEM fool you. Don't turn you back on any of THEM. THEY can't be trusted. THEY are all "Shoe Killers" If you don't have one living in your home, you can bank on it, your neighbor does! THEY will attack an innocent pair of shoes just because. We have a "Shoe Killer" that lives in our home. This is not the first attack by any means. We try the best we can to keep the innocent victims out of harms way, but that is no match for "Mikey."

Here she is. Remember I had a job baby sitting Hailey? Well I was back on duty last week.

Mommy, Mikey and I were watching Hailey last week. I think I did most of the work too! She wacked me in the head with a Swiffer thing! Ouch!

Daddy got Haily this Penguin Pool with the balls to play in while she was visiting us. That isn't fair!!!! Mikey and I wanted the balls. Everyone knows how much we love tennis balls. Did we get to play with them? NO!

Look at Hailey smiling because she knows I will get in trouble if I get one of the balls. I think I heard her mumble Ha, Ha, Ha! Zoey!

Our Sweet Baby Panda

My sweet Panda Bear. March 2nd 2007 was one of the saddest days of my life. It was the day I had to say goodbye to my best friend. I know you know how much daddy and I love you. The dates are not important, but The Dash is.

Panda, how do I thank you for sharing your Dash with me? I will never forget that first day I met you. You and Daddy came over to my house for you to meet me. I really didn't know what to expect. I didn't expect to fall in love with you at first site, but that is exactly what happened. Your cute smile and personality were the best in the world. Not to mention what a cute sweet smart girl you were. You made us laugh a hundred million times! I remember one day I was baby sitting you and let you go out in the backyard to go to the bathroom and get some sunshine. You were sporting an e-collar. I heard the neighborhood kids yelling "Pit Bull! Pit Bull!" I had never seen a Pit Bull before and figured I would peak out of the front door to see what one looked like. What did I see, but your will butt trotting down the sidewalk! Butt wagging one way and head the other! I was shocked! I couldn't believe the kids thought you were the Pit Bull. I called you; you stopped in your tracks, turned your head and had a silly grin on your face. You turned on a dime and headed back to me.

I have lots of memories of you, that I hope I never forget. How about that day Daddy and I came home from a Mardi Gras parade with a bunch of Moon Pies? You little stinker! We couldn't figure out where they went! I'll bet you were laughing because it took us to while to figure out you had a Moon Pie in every corner of the house.

The day my heart stopped was the day; we came home and couldn't find you! We called you and called you when we got home. We found it so strange that you didn't greet us at the door. My first thought was maybe when we left the house, you had gotten out and we didn't see you. I was so sad to think you were gone. Daddy kept telling me he was sure you were in the house though. We both stopped talking and started listening for you. I will never forget how happy I was to hear that little sound you used to make that sounded like a whale clearing out that hole in the top of their heads. You rat! I'm sorry that thunderstorm scared you enough to hide behind the dryer. I would have never thought to look there for you.

Remember the day we went to the walk along the Mississippi River? We watched the brown pelicans fly past the pavilion. You were your usually funny self that day. Daddy and I laughed at you because you had your head cocked so that one nostril could be glued to the cement smelling everything that crossed that path, and the other nostril off the ground for air.

The day at Audubon Park was one to remember. I thought you were going to break your neck when you took off full speed after a squirrel! I think that day was the first time you saw a lagoon. I don't remember if that is the same day we went to the pizza parlor that allowed dogs, but I think you had a good time there as well.

Remembering food…..how about the countless picnics we have been on? We always had fun on the side of the road, or in a park eating fried chicken, burgers or a pizza.

You helped ease the pain I had moving here. I left my friends, family, job and school to be with you and daddy. I don't think anyone knew how hard it was for me, except you. I can't tell you how nice it felt when you would come sit next to me and lean your body next to me like you were giving me a hug telling me everything would be ok. You always knew the right thing to do to comfort me. I loved how you would snuggle next to me at night. I can't tell you enough how much I miss that. I miss the sweet smell of your ears. They always had a puppy smell, I will never forget.

I will never forget the horror Daddy and I felt the day we were told you had to have your beautiful blue eye removed. It was like a knife in our hearts. It couldn't be we thought. You were such a little trouper. You trusted our judgment completely. You had the best doctors we would find. We were told you would look at cute as ever and you did. That was just about the same time we thought you needed a brother. We kept telling you we were going to get a brother for you and we started looking. It was because of you and the love of Bostons that you taught us that we knew we wanted another Boston. We didn't find that brother for you just yet, but instead found Zoey. Oh Lord! How patient you were with that little baby! She could do anything she wanted to with you and you were always patient. You taught Zoey so many things that she didn't learn from her momma. I know she was like your baby. You taught her how to play and how to sit down fast when little sharp teeth would sink into your butt. You showed her how you brought balls and toys back to who ever threw them for you. Ha Ha Ha! Remember turning in a circle with a toy in your mouth, so Zoey would have to run her little legs off to try to get it from you while all you did was stand in one place and turn in a circle! You were so clever. It is funny to see that Zoey does so many of the maneuvers you taught her.

That trip to the Atlantic Ocean was fun. You and Zoey had never been to the ocean before. The people at the hotel were excited about you and Zoey being guest when we checked in. They gave you kids doggie treats and wanted to baby sit you both behind the front desk while daddy and I went to dinner. They thought you two were the cutest doggies ever. Oh yes, remember that week we stayed at the hotel in Ohio? Every one fell in love with you and Zoey there too. Remember the housekeepers used to knock on the door to visit you and would always say "Hi" when we went for walks.

It was because of our love for you and Zoey that daddy and I got interested in rescue. Because of you, we welcomed Zoey in the family, and because of you, we welcomed Mike. That last day, Zoey came to you for you to lick her face as you have done all of her life. She did it as to say, "Just once more before you go." Even Mike came to you and licked your face which he had never before done to let you know he loved you.

My sweet baby Panda, I will miss you the rest of my life. I know I will see you again and you will be there to welcome me home.

Every time I see water running from a hose I will thing about the fun you used to have trying to catch it. I hope you are running and playing now my angel.

This is our new friend Bud! Isn't he a cutie pie? Mommy met Bud's mommy this weekend and this is what Bud's mommy had to say about Bud.

"He is our sweet love child, we got him through a breeder who got his litter from a puppy mill in North Georgia.. Was rolly polly and lovable from the beginning! He sleeps a lot the older he gets, but still has that light in his eye from puppyhood... Because of tooth loss, his tongue slips out while he rests and my kids beg me to take more pictures of him..!"

Bud and Panda have a lot in common, they both sleep with their tongue out of their mouth!

There is no way you can pin this on me!

This is a true story. Mommy was inside working while Panda, Zoey and I were taking naps. There was a noise outside like something hit the house. Me being the good watch dog that I am ran outside in the rain barking. I tried to make Mommy follow me, but she wouldn't. She just looked out and looked around inside to try to figure out what happened. I don't know why mommy didn't follow me outside.

Uh Oh! This doesn't look good. Thank goodness I have mommy, Panda and Zoey as my alibi. They'll be no creating a time line of my where abouts either!

I wonder what happened here? What made this bird bath just fall over? Not me, no sirrrr!

We used to have a pond right in this very spot. I had 3 pet frogs living in it too. I would try to catch them, but Daddy said he was afraid I would fall in one day and drown! Daddy took the pond out and out came my 3 little froggy friends. Daddy said they would be ok and put them near some rocks for a hidding space from me. From me??? Then daddy put this fountain where the pond used to be.

Now I just wonder if those froggies were in the water in the bird bath? Let me see here.......nope, they are not there.

Oooops! We did it again...........

Mommy and Daddy had to go out to eat again. They went with Harley and Murphy’s mommy and daddy. They should have brought us kids! Noooo we had to stay home. It was getting kind of late and Panda, Zoey and I started talking about Halloween. I didn’t know anything about Halloween until the girls told me what it was. Panda said mommy was going to dress us up and kids were going to come to our house to get candy! Wow! That should be fun. Panda said that if you don’t give the kids candy they might toilet paper your house. Hmmmm toilet paper…….. Zoey and I like to play with the “do-doot-ta-do” inside the toilet paper roll. I wonder what toilet paper your house means. I said “hey gang, I know were daddy left a 4 pack of toilet paper.” We should get it and play with the “do-doot-ta-do” until mommy and daddy get home! That way we won’t be in trouble for anything when they get home. We first had to figure out how to get to the “do-doot-ta-do.” I was real careful when I tore the outer paper off and got a roll. Those rolls are pretty thick and I had a time getting that into my mouth. I had to bite some of the paper off inside before I could bring it outside. I also worked on it outside too. I almost got down to the good part, when “they” came home. Mommy took a look at the bedroom floor and told daddy he might want to take a peek. He declined and just said he didn’t want to know what ever happened. Then mommy looked in the yard like she always does and she tells daddy, “well your kids have toilet papered the back yard!” I didn’t know that is what you call what we did! That was kind of fun. No wonder the kids do that if you don’t give them candy. Daddy wouldn’t go outside to look at the yard. Here is a picture. I don’t think it looks that bad do you?

We got caught red handed....well, red pawed! Notice the Queen Bee didn't get caught? I wonder how daddy's shoes and sock got out there? Daddy made some kind of remark about how he was going to chain the doormat in place like the "peg leg" man that was chained at "Eat at Joe's." What does that mean?

Look at all of us! Mommy and daddy took us to the dog park and we met some new friends! That is Panda with the white head getting her head scratch. My Daddy is hold me (Zoey) by my harness, Mike is to the right of me. Our new friend Gooch is on the right of Mike, then a doggy I don't know then Sophie (Gooch's new sister.)

We went one by one.

Here we are four by four! Sorry, but we don't know the name of the doggy in the middle. Which takes us back up to the top where we are five by five! What a great Boston Day we had.

I guess Yard Art is different things to different people. Here is what Yard Art is to me. These are items placed carefully by my crew. They take the items out of their toy box and strategically place them all around the yard.......Uh Oh! Hmmmm, let me get a close up of a couple of things that should not be part of this picture.

The long black thing that is rolled up, doesn't belong out there. That is the door mat. What else do I see? Ohhhhh the 2 shoes, don't belong out there either! Uh Oh! Oh well, some one once told me that a few teeth marks in your shoes shouldn't stop you from wearing them! No one will even notice.

Here they are recovered from the yard. Now I would like to see that person who told me a few teeth marks in your shoes shouldn't stop you from wearing them walk around work in THESE!

Brunson gets a BoBo!

We wanted to get her out of the house and let the dogs have a little fun too. We took Bo and Bandit to some local horse and bike trails where there was a creek they could splash around in and cool off. The dogs had a great time and I think it helped lift my wife's spirits to get outside play with the dogs. I think animals can be great therapy for anyone who is sick, or maybe just having a bad day. In Memory of TBone

TBone was rescued from a shelter years ago. He was very loving and affectionate. He loved car rides and long walks. He got along with every dog and cat he came in contact with. He would come in from his morning pit stop and stomp around the kitchen until I got his bowl down. I thought this was funny. He was the best dog. I love Roscoe as well, but I had alot of years withTbone, not enough though. He left too soon. Roscoe and I will have years, I hope. Roscoe misses Tbone as we all do.
TBone crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 18, 2006. He is sadly missed by his Mommy (Nancy), Daddy (Bill), Brother (Roscoe) and a host of family and friends.

Guilty Or Innocent? You Be The JUDGE!!!!

This is a Who Done It? You can be the JUDGE!!
Here are photos ladies and gentlemen of the jury. This innocent victim is approximately 4
months old on a 2 year contract. The victim was found helpless and open in the backyard
among dog toys.

You will notice in the first photo: Teeth marks, a blade of grass, and dried up dog spit.
In the second photo you will notice several bite wounds to the antenna, hinge, and face area of the phone.

We have three (3) suspects in captivity!!!!!!

This is Panda, she is Suspect #1. She has no past history of taking anything outside through the doggy door. No past history of any cell phone activity. She does have a history of naughty behavior like tearing up the garbage, tearing down blinds, jumping over a 4 foot fence with an E collar on, and jumping behind a washing machine to hide.

Mike is Suspect #2. He does have a criminal history of taking anything that will fit through the doggy door out in to the backyard where our victim was found, however he has no past cell phone history. Mike has of history of carrying heavy objects out the doggie door such as floor mats, the largest size FULL ketchup bottle stolen from the dining room table, and a box of carbon for the fish tank, just to name a few.

Zoey is Suspect #3. Zoey’s past activities include three (3) chewed up cell phones. One of these victims was found in the backyard. Zoey’s other victims include: a garage door opener (that is a different story), several rolls of toilet paper, any type of work related book or binder, the arm of an antique chair, and the rungs on several dinning room chairs to name a few.

She is NO Angel!!!

Well, well, well, let’s see where do I start? Hmmmm, it seems that Panda the one mommy calls her angel she is no angel! There I said it! Mommy says that dot on Panda’s head is her halo. Ha! Halo my paw! It all started when mommy and daddy were going out to eat. Mommy kissed us all good bye, told us to be good and that the Queen Bee Panda was in charge as usual. Panda, Zoey and I decided that we would see what great adventure awaited us outside of the doggy door! We love our doggy door by the way. We didn’t hear mommy and daddy come home from dinner. Yikes! We usually meet them at the door.

First mommy went into the bedroom where she noticed an empty chewed container of fish food. Darn I wish it had the fish food in it. I could have gotten that all over the bed. Ha, ha, ha! Mommy has gotten into this sneaky habit of looking out of the bedroom window to see what is going on in the back yard. All of a sudden we hear…”the three of them are circling a baby bird like sharks in the yard!” Uh Oh! Daddy runs outside with mommy close behind him. Mommy had to notice the commotion of all the birds swarming our yard and even noticed the goofy sparrows, robins, woodpeckers and marking birds watching from our neighbor’s roof. She told daddy that we were under attack like in the movie “The Birds.” I think daddy was upset because he said he wished the woodpeckers and marking birds would peck our heads! Then daddy asked mommy who was keeping us as bay where the gloves were. Gloves??? What was he going to do to us? Whew, it was to pick up the baby bird and put him on the other side of the fence.

It was only after all of that did mommy notice a little container in the yard and looked at me. Well, I guess I should admit, it was me. I like to take things outside. Daddy noticed some yellow things on the ground and said “what is this.” Then mommy said “oh that is just little sugar birds to decorate cookies with.” They had to bring up birds again. I knew we were going to be in time out.

Daddy closed our access to the doggy door! Now I am here to say that closing the doggy door is cruel and unusual punishment! We wanted to go outside, but daddy said nooooooo. When mommy went to bed, she found the present we left for her on her side of the bed!!!!!

Today, mommy said I was in charge of protecting the birds in the yard. She said we couldn’t play with them either. Let’s see, when mommy and daddy go off, Panda is in charge of the house, when Hailey comes over Zoey is the baby sitter, and now, I have a job. I am in charge of the birds! Life is good!

Our New Friends Pup and Daisy!

We made new friends recently. A story from Pup N Daisy's blog is below.
WARNING: Reading the following story will cause you to laugh and wet your pants!!!!

Daisy Goes On an Outing
The physical changes Daisy went through in the next few weeks were amazing. Her rotund, short-legged little body gave way to lankiness and a sleek, well proportioned physique. Her coat was as shiny as satin and her face showed remarkable good breeding and beauty (in an ugly sense, of course.) She is absolutely beautiful and she knows it. She knows just how to sit on her recliner and pose in a head-held- high, I am a proud girl kind of way. But she is really an oaf. She doesn’t run, she plods. She still runs into things at full speed and you can hear her coming from a mile away. Her legs are as long as Pup is tall and on many occasions, I have found them both standing there with Pup entirely under Daisy’s body, like a piggy back mutation of a two headed dog.

One morning, I opened my front door to get my mail and Daisy decided to dart out the door. She ran across the front porch and I followed her, hoping to grab her up before she got a chance to escape the yard. Off the porch she jumped, however, and as I held on to the old pillar on the porch to steady myself while I tried to grab her, the pillar gave way and I fell off the porch into the ground cover plants and what I would discover about 30 seconds later was a colony of ants, with the 60 year old pillar following and landing on top of me.

Since I was in my nightgown, and my hair was a mess and I looked like absolute hell, my first instinct was to look around and see if anyone had witnessed this most embarrassing of events. Feeling fairly sure that I had not been seen, I managed to stick my butt up in the air and get on all fours in a most appealing position and try to pull myself up onto the porch, all the while trying to keep an eye on Daisy, who was still cavorting around the front yard like all was right with the world. It is an understatement to say that I am not a limber person, I am far from thin and I am getting old. The combination of my body having betrayed me years ago and the fact that a colony of, of course, red ants was swarming all over me, made getting up very, very difficult. I would probably say that by the time I was on two feet instead of all fours, I was not feeling all that tickled with Daisy. I had ants crawling all over me, I felt bruised and battered and now I had to go catch Daisy. I knew I couldn’t run in the house and get dressed. By the time I had finished, Daisy could be blocks away. So I was forced to chase Daisy, who had discovered how much fun it is to run away from me, down the street, through neighbors’ yards, in my nightgown and bare feet. Keep in mind, there were leaves and ants in my disheveled hair and I was angry. I must have looked like a demented psychopath to anyone who might have looked out their window or driven by and seen me. Daisy just kept running away from me. But she had a special way of doing it. She would stop and wait for me to almost be able to reach out and grab her. She had a sadistic smile in her eyes and I would get close enough to see it…and then she would dart away again. I could have killed her. I finally decided I would never be able to catch her and I remembered my sister Pat’s advice (she is the family dog expert and dog trainer) that I should run AWAY from Daisy and she would probably follow. Running is no longer my forte, so the best I could do was to yell a few choice words (further evidence of my psychotic personality to any witnesses) at her and walk away from her. And she actually followed. If I turned and looked at her or started toward her, even one step, she would laugh and run in the opposite direction. She is no fool.

We finally made it home. I opened the door and she pranced in like she had quite the story to tell Pup, who was sniffing her and encouraging her misbehavior by cheering her on like a hero come home.I got out of my dirty nightgown and surveyed the damage. 2 skinned knees, a few ant bites, a huge bruise forming on my chest, and dirt in my right ear. Not too bad for an old chick. And Daisy, of course, was unscathed. She just thought it was a pretty fun outing. I heard her telling Pup that as I turned on the shower…

Dead as a Doorstop!

Ok, here is the story.
Mommy went to the grocery. Before she left she said Panda was in charge and what ever Panda says we (me and Mike) should listen to, because Panda is the oldest and she is an
angel! Mommy says that dot on Panda's head is a halo! Well, Mike is kind of new; we all adopted him at the end of April. He is still learning the ropes around here. Mommy HAD this cat
that was a door stop. Panda said mommy had it even before they moved to Georgia. You see, they got me after they moved to Georgia. Any way about the cat, Mike said hey lets get that cat! I said ok, but Panda said no. We didn't listen to Panda and started playing with the cat. Well, you know how it is, one thing lead to another, and next thing we knew, the cat was dead! Guts were all over the place! When mommy came home and asked which one of us did it, Mike and I acted like we were deaf and went on about our business. Mike the little sneak went out the doggy door and left me there to try to explain it to mommy. Ok now here are the pictures. I don't think it looks THAT bad!

Hello Every One! It is me Zoey. I am 3 today. Here I am in my Party Hat.

For every one who is jealous you don't have a Party Hat like me, I will also show you a side shot of me. I just LOVE my hat!

Panda knew this was a very special day for me and she was happy to wear her Party Hat too! Panda is the best big sister in the world. She loves me and would do any thing for me. I love you too Panda! Notice Mike is not in this picture! He is a Hat Chicken! That is right his was afraid of his Party Hat and ran!

Notice in this picture, Daddy had to hold the hat on a certain person's head!!!!! Daddy had to help Mike because he is the baby of the group.

Boston Terriers in Need of Help!!!!

Dear Boston Terrier Lovers -Piglet has fallen on hard times! She was picked up as a stray by Birmingham/ Jefferson County, Alabama, Animal Control. From there, she came into rescue, where we found that she had pronounced upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis, and whip and hook worms. While being treated for these afflictions, she managed to perforate her cornea (ouch!). This eye injury required a surgical repair, and the follow up treatment is at least a month of multiple eye drops and creams for her eye in addition to antibiotics and painkillers. To top off the suffering, she has to wear a large plastic collar (an E-collar) while she heals, lest she scratches her healing eye.Her medical bills are over $900.00 to date! If you can help out withPiglet's bills by sponsoring her, she (and we!) would be very grateful!

Boudine is a beautiful and sweet puppy who came to our rescue from a neglectful situation. He is only 8-1/2 months old and we suspect he had little, or no, vetting done prior to us receiving him. He is heartworm negative, and was treated for tape worms; and he was neutered. On his 4thday in rescue, he showed signs of parvo or another very similiar virus thatis going around. Parvo is very serious and deadly. This is why it is sovery important to start your puppies on their vaccines and keep them on an annual vaccination and physical exam schedule. Boudine's vet expenses are accumulating, and he is fighting to stay alive; and should you feel led to sponsor him, or contribute to his vet care, Birmingham Boston TerrierRescue would be so very appreciative.

Max just came to us from Louisiana and was rescued from a kill shelter. Along with his sweet, friendly disposition and good looks, he brought along with him hookworms, whipworms, and heartworms. He has been been neutered and treated for the whips and hooks, but still needs a heartworm treatment. He is young so his prognosis is good, but the longer he has heartworms the more extensive the permanent damage is done to his young, sweet heart. Well, here we are! Mommy said it is Easter time. She said we will get something in our baskets from the Easter Bunny! Wow! What a surprise! Panda checks out her basket. Empty!!!! I go over and check out my basket. Empty!!!!! What is going on here??? I said "Panda what is with this Easter Bunny, there is nothing in our baskets." Panda is very smart and she tells me that we have to start out with empty baskets and WHEN the Easter Bunny comes, he will fill it up with stuff, but we have to wait for Easter morning!!!!! I just hope mommy doesn't make us dress up or anything like that!?!?!? HAPPY EASTER From Panda and Zoey.

Attention Brunson Fans!

It has been reported that Brunson has been in a tussle with an opossum yesterday while going for a potty break! Brunson found his way under a storage shed which happed to be the home of Mr. Opossum. Brunson stood his ground and went fist-to-cuffs with Mr. Opossum. Brunson’s Granny kept calling and calling him but couldn’t find him. In comes our hero of the day Murphy! Murphy led the way to where Brunson was. Brunson’s Grandpa had to jack up the storage shed to free Brunson. Brunson was wisped to the ER by him Momma and Granny where he was listed in good condition and given some antibiotics. Today he is doing well and staying clear of the storage shed. No comment from Mr. Opossum!

Hello World! Meet Gizzmo!

Gizzmo is is a Papillon mix and is said to be approximately 1-1 1/2 years old. He weighs just 15 pounds (slightly more than a pure Papillon) so he fits perfectly in my arms as I walk around. He chose me when I went to an adoption day for the Small Dog Rescue organization at the Petco in Sandy Springs. When I held my hand up to the crate he was in, he quickly gave me lots of kisses and raised his "hand" up and placed it on top of mine and left it there! Although I went there looking for a female puppy, I kept going back to him after seeing the other dogs...it was just meant to be! He had previous humans for about a year I'm told, but they gave him up...how could they? He's so adorable and sweet natured!
